Roger Bost

Roger Bost was Student Body President and was a member of the football and track and field teams, graduating from Statesville High School in 1966. He was a captain and won the Best Blocker Award in 1965 for football. Bost was Conference Champion for Shotput in 1964 and was Western North Carolina High School Athletic Association Champion for Shotput in 1965.
Bost went on to East Carolina to play football. He was awarded ECU’s Most Outstanding Freshman as Co-Captain of ECU’s Freshman Team. Bost was one of two members of the 1969 team, which he Co-Captained, to be awarded the prestigious Pirate Award his senior season, graduating in 1970.
After college, Bost began coaching with stints at D.H. Conley, Southview, Asheboro, Brevard, North Davidson and head football coach at Albemarle before he returned to Iredell County. He coached football, tennis and golf for the Greyhounds. Bost was nine times named Conference Coach of the Year for the respective sports. He was an Assistant Coach for the West team in the East/West All-Star Football Game in 2004.
