Mitch Mayhew

Mitch Mayhew, a 1986 graduate, is one of South Iredell’s most highly decorated athletes, starring in football and wrestling. All the while, Mayhew worked on and earned his Eagle Scout.
In football, Mayhew was All-Conference all four years (both offense and defense), Winston-Salem Journal All-Northwest three years, Charlotte Observer All-Piedmont two years and Associated Press All-State as a senior, the leading vote getter. He played in the Shrine Bowl and the East/West All-Star Game.
Equally impressive, Mayhew’s wrestling career was outstanding. He was four times Conference Champion and All-Conference. He was 195 lb. State Champion and All-State with a 26-1 record as a senior.
He was inducted into the South Iredell Athletic Hall of Fame in 2019.
