Misty Horne Kerr graduated from Statesville High School and starred for the Greyhound basketball team. She was Foothills Athletic Conference Co-Player of the Year in 1993 and Player of the Year in 1996. She was All-Conference three years in 1993, 1995 and 1996 (an injury kept her out of the 1994 season). Misty helped lead the Greyhounds to Foothills Athletic Conference Championships in 1993 and 1995. She holds Statesville’s single season 3-point record of 64 in 1994 and the career record of 207.
Misty received a scholarship to play at East Carolina University. She was a prolific 3-point shooter for the Pirates, finishing her remarkable career second in ECU history with 137 and second in a season with 55 and tied for most in a game with 7.
