Julian Robinson

After a stellar three-sports career, Julian Robinson graduated from Scotts High School in 1951. Julian helped pioneer the 6-man football at Scotts High School in 1948. Julian was selected as All-State Six-Man Football in 1949. The Record and Landmark named him as one of the greatest Golden Era high school football players in Iredell County history. He went on to play football, basketball and baseball at Erskine College. Robinson received nine athletic letters, two years as captain, and was a charter member of the Erskine Athletic Hall of Fame.

His intelligence on the court carried over into an outstanding coaching career in South Carolina high schools, including a state championship basketball team at Dreher High School in Columbia. After eleven years in the public schools, he became basketball coach and assistant professor at Presbyterian College, coaching the Blue Hose to several of their finest seasons. Also, he was voted the SC College Coach of the Year in 1973 by the SC Sportswriters Association. Recipient of a Master’s Degree from Appalachian State University and a Doctorate from Middle Tennessee State University, Dr. Robinson entered college administration in 1976 when he was named Dean of Instruction at Chattanooga State Technical Community College in Tennessee.
