JR Sweezy

JR Sweezy graduated from Mooresville High School in 2007, where he starred in football and wrestling for the Blue Devils. During his senior year, he was named All-County, All-Conference and All-Piedmont in football. He also won the 3A state championship in wrestling as heavyweight.
He went on to play football at NC State and started every game his junior and senior years. He received an invite to the 2012 NFL Combine. He was drafted 225th overall by the Seattle Seahawks, where he was reunited with his college teammate Russell Wilson. He started on the Seahawks’ Super Bowl Champion team in 2014 and started for Seattle in the 2015 Super Bowl. During his nine-year NFL career, he also played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Arizona Cardinals and the New Orleans Saints. He signed a one-day contract to officially retire as a Seattle Seahawk.
