Lake Norman’s Josh Ladowski is the most decorated high school football player in Iredell County history. He was named 2014 NC High School Football Player of the Year by the Associated Press after breaking Chris Leak’s state record for total offense with 5,647 yards and set the total touchdowns state record with 77. Quarterbacking the Wildcats to the NC Class 4AA state semi-finals, he passed for 3,628 yards and 43 touchdowns and ran for 2,019 yards and 34 touchdowns. Ladowski was also named was also named NC Gatorade Player of the Year. He was the Most Outstanding Offensive Player in the 2014 Shrine Bowl.
“I have coached against Josh Ladowski for two years, and in my 30 years of coaching, I have honestly never seen a high school player do what this guy can do,” said Nick Bazzle, head football coach of rival Alexander Central.
Also an All-State performer in baseball, Ladowski hit .507 as a senior. He was ranked the No. 8 outfielder and the No. 31 overall player in North Carolina by Perfect Game and was considered the No. 127 outfielder in the nation. He played baseball at the University of North Carolina. Ladowski played for the Mooresville Spinners on their Southern Collegiate Baseball League championship team in 2018.
