William “Bill” Adams
Year Inducted: 2017
William “Bill” Adams was known for his play on the baseball diamond in the Minor Leagues, including the Statesville Owls, from 1947-1951 and his coaching in the 1960s and 1970s.
But, he was more well-known for being “Mr. Bill” or “Mr. Adams” at The Sports Shop. It wasn’t just a job for Adams, he didn’t just sell merchandise, he equipped people with life lessons that still remain with all that crossed his path. Many accounts share that they would not be the athlete they were if it wasn’t for Adams and The Sports Shop. He cared greatly about everyone that walked in the door and took the time to get to know each and every client, young and old.
He was inducted into the Iredell County Sports Hall of Fame in 2017 as its second Harold Johnson Community Partner Award honoree.
